OUR PRACTICES
Ecological Agriculture: Growing in harmony with nature
Ecology and agriculture have been at odds for decades. Since the rise of the Industrial Revolution, we have seen the decimation of wildlife, soils, water and human health. Industrial agriculture contributes up to 30% of the emissions directly responsible for climate change. And yet, less than 200 years ago humans were able to feed growing populations with secure, safe and sovereign systems that upheld our health and wellbeing. Where did we go wrong?
At Full Belly Farm, our mission is to test, experiment and determine how modern advances in agroecology can be implemented in the Caribbean. We draw upon indigenous agriculture practices to grow modern crops that feed people while building soil health, maximizing water retention, increasing biodiversity and reducing our human impact on the land.
